Porsche at the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Vintage 1971 Turkish Movie Poster for Le Mans Buyuk Yaris.
Features the "Akun Film" logo and Turkish title "Buyuk Yaris".
Le Mans (released in some English speaking countries as both "Le Mans" and as "The 24 Hours of Le Mans"), the 1971 Lee H. Katzin France automobile car racing sports action thriller ("Steve McQueen takes you for a drive in the country. The country is France. The drive is at 200 MPH!"; set in the classic French countryside's historic 24-hour race) starring Steve McQueen, Siegfried Rauch, Elga Andersen, Ronald Leigh-Hunt, and features racing legends Derek Bell, Jacky Ickx, and Jo Siffert.
The movies is of course famous because of the epic battle between Porsche and Ferrari, Steve McQueen and the music score by Michel Legrand.
This Turkish poster measures approximately 27 x 39 inches.
Turkish movie culture was significantly different from what we know in the West in the early 1970's and lobby cards (and sometimes posters) circulated amongst movie theaters along with the movies themselves. In the West, theaters could keep the cards, in Turkey they had to go back to the distributor and were sent out again to the next theater.
A couple of years ago, we bought the complete stock of "Le Mans" posters from the former Turkish distributor "Akun Film" in Istanbul.
All posters are folded as they originally were... we have NEVER seen any non-folded vintage examples of this poster...

The 1980 Le Mans poster is part of the "Early Sponsorship and Advertising" era in Le Mans posters and which lasted from 1975 to 1980.
This poster is based on a color illustration by artist Charles Pascarel who found inspiration in the world of the comic strip and shows a great atmospheric artist's rendition of the 1979 winning Porsche 935 K3 of Klaus Ludwig and Bill & Don Whittington battling it out with a BMW M1.
Production and lay-out were in the hands of the Publi-Inter agency.
French TV channel TF1 was on hand to show the race and their logo is featured prominently on the poster.
The race was won by Jean Rondeau and Jean-Pierre Jaussaud in their Nr 16 Rondeau M379B with a total of 338 laps to their name.

Artist Proof for the 1980 24 Hours of Le Mans Poster Artwork signed by Charles Pascarel.
This is an original "Artist Proof" of the artwork for the 1980 Le Mans poster, signed by the artist, Charles Pascarel (1936).
An Artist Proof is an impression of a print taken in the printmaking process to see the current printing state of a plate while the plate (or stone, or woodblock...) is being worked on by the artist.
This particular Artist Proof comes extremely close to the final version.
It is signed by the artist in the lower right corner while the lower left corner is marked "E.A" which stands for "Epreuve Artiste", French for Artist Proof.
In total it measures some 85 x 65 cm which is considerably larger than the poster which measures 53 x 38 cm.

This very rare Artist Proof for this iconic Le Mans poster is in excellent condition but a bit wavy at the top as visible in the photograph.

Original Porsche 962 Cylinder Head.
A GREAT item from the time when the mighty Group C 962's ruled the seas of endurance racing.
This is an original cylinder head & cylinder of a 962.
In the 962, the head & cylinder were a one-piece assembly and so is this one.
This particular one comes from a blown engine and has "severe" damage to the combustion chamber. Two valves are locked solid in their guides and of a 3rd valve only the stem is left...
A great and rarely available conversation piece that everybody will want to study and take a closer look at. Looking down the cylinder bore gives a fascinating view of the 4-valve arrangement.
Only 1 available.

Original 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans Poster.
June 18 and 19, 2016.
57 x 42 cm.22.4 x 16.5 inches.
Probably the most controversial 24 Heures du Mans of the last two decades!
The 2016 Le Mans poster is part of the era in Le Mans posters which is generally described as "The Le Mans Poster in the era of computer graphics and sponsorship" and which lasts from 2001 until the current day.
The 84nd edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours is placed under the banner of the Myth of the 24 Hours and the poster leaves no questions about that!
A cleaner and less figurative universe than in the past, which fits perfectly with the new slogan: "Le Mans MYTHIQUE" which probably requires no translation...
This time, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest collaborates with the Bronx communications agency while the photo of the Porsche 919 was provided by Porsche themselves.
The event was, controversially, won by Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb in their Number 2 Porsche 919 Hybrid.
