Vintage 1963 24 Heures du Mans Qualifying Poster.

April 6 & 7, 1963.

38 x 60 cm.
15 x 23.5 inches.

This poster advertised the "3eme Criterium International de Vitesse Motocycliste 300 - 500 cc" which was of course a motorcycle race AND the tests / qualifying sessions for the upcoming 24 Heures du Mans.

The artwork shows an artist impression (by Beligond) of a motorcycle racing side by side with a Ferrari sportscar.

The race itself was won by Lorenzo Bandini and Ludovico Scarfiotti in their Nr 21 Ferrari 250 P (S/N 0814) with a total of 339 laps to their name.

For the full results of this race, please see 24 Heures du Mans results 1963.

Vintage 1963 Le Mans 24 Hours Flyer

Vintage 1963 Le Mans Race Flyer.

These flyers were handed out at the race to spectators to show them around the track.

Scarce as most of them did not survive the race.

The cover of the flyer follows the design of the 1963 race poster with a fantastic illustration, by G. Laygnac, of the winning make of the previous year, Ferrari. Although the 1962 winner is depicted, the image is of a much more symbolic nature than previous years. The idea of time is overwhelmingly present, as is that of speed which is symbolized by the whirlpool.

Near mint condition for its age.

It measures 5.4 x 8.4 inches and unfolds to 21.6 x 8.4 inches.

The race itself was won by Lorenzo Bandini and Ludovico Scarfiotti in their Nr 21 Ferrari 250 P (S/N 0814) with a total of 339 laps to their name.

For the full results of this race, please see 24 Heures du Mans results 1963.

This is a vintage 1963 photo of the # 24 Ferrari 250 GTO of "Beurlys" and Gerhard Langlois van Ophem en route to second place overall during the 1963 24 hours of Le Mans.
