1959 24 Hours of Le Mans Posters and Memorabilia
1959 Le Mans Race Poster REPRODUCTION.
June 20 & 21, 1959.
It measures approximately:16 x 22 inches40 x 56 cm
The 1959 Le Mans poster is part of the so-called "Major Illustrators" era in Le Mans posters which lasted from 1954 - 1963 and in which the cream of the crop of French motorsport illustrators such as Geo Ham, Jeudon and Beligond were hired for the design of the race posters.
The design of the 1959 poster was by Michel Beligond and was his second work for the Le Mans 24 hours race.
Beligond was preceded by Geo Ham and Jeudon and the switch to this relatively new artist immediately gave a more realistic rendering of the race.
The drivers running towards their cars in a typical Le Mans start with the international flags flying over the pit box building. With a little good will, one can see a Ferrari and a Jaguar ready to be taken to the tarmac by their sprinting drivers.
The race was won by Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby in their Aston Martin DBR1/300 (S/N 2) with a total of 323 laps to their name.

1959 24 Hours of Le Mans Poster REPRODUCTION
Vintage 1959 Le Mans 24 Hours Race Program.
Mint condition for its age.
The cover shows the then-new Renault Floride (Renault probably paid a hefty sum to get it on the cover...).
The inside pages show of course a myriad of contemporary advertising which alone makes it worth going through this booklet of 96 pages.
The booklet also served as a ticket in the tombola in which you could win such a Renault Floride or, as a kind of consolation prize, a gold-plated "Silver Match" cigarette lighter...
For this purpose, these booklets were numbered and this is number 012249 but it might be a bit late to claim your prize...
It measures some 21.5 cm x 27 cm.
The race was won by Roy Salvadori & Carroll Shelby in their Aston Martin DBR1/300 (S/N 2) with a total of 323 laps to their name.

Vintage 1959 Panhard 24 Heures du Mans Victory Poster.
This is a fantastic vintage 1959 poster, designed by Alex Kow (or Alexis Kow if you want) for Panhard's victories in the 1959 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In 1959, Panhard managed a ninth place overall but also captured the class victory in the 501 - 750 cc class, they won the Index of Performance, the 25th Biennial Cup AND the Index of Thermal Efficiency!
This is quite a famous poster and the internet is littered with sites that sell reproductions of it but this is a very scarce original!
Although the poster has a multitude of pinholes, has been folded in 4 and has various other little damages (all visible in the photo), it is still a very collectible poster.
It is that it has lead such a rough life but in mint condition, it would retail at US$ 1000. We have set the price of this example accordingly.
The poster measures some 14 x 21.5 inches or 36 x 55 cm.
